Besides the competitive events outlined in the National DECA Guide and on the national DECA website (www.deca.com), the following competitive events are only
held at our State CDC.
South Carolina Pin Design Contest - Deadline to Submit - January 10
Submit a pin design for possible use by the South Carolina DECA Association at the International Career Development Conference.
Specifications:
1. Must include “South Carolina DECA”
2. Must be submitted on an 8 1/2 X 11 page
3. Must be submitted as a black and white line drawing
4. Must include a color rendition on the same page (may be a smaller size).
5. Pin area must be illustrated with the 4" x 4" size
6. Must be submitted by deadline date
7. May use state theme/national theme
Basis for Judging:
1. Design Impact
2. Suitability
3. Creativity
4. Originality
The winner will be recognized at the State Leadership Conference.
South Carolina T-Shirt Design Contest - Deadline to Submit - January 10
Submit a T-Shirt design for possible use by the South Carolina DECA Association at the State Career Development Conference.
Specifications:
1. Must include “South Carolina DECA”
2. Must be submitted on official enclosed layout form
3. Must be submitted as a black and white line drawing
4. Must include a separate color rendition layout design
5. Must be submitted by deadline date
6. May use state theme/national theme
7. Design may encompass front, back or sleeve of T-Shirt
8. Design must also include a cost of producing quote that was researched by local T-shirt Company.
Basis for Judging:
1. Design Impact
2. Suitability
3. Creativity
4. Originality
The winner will be recognized at the State Leadership Conference.

Regional Qualifying - SC DECA has three regional qualifying events prior to our state conference. The regional events
are the first level of competition for the eleven competitive events in the Individual Series. The top ten qualifiers from
each event at each regional advances to the state level of competition.
The following are the sites and dates of the 2007 Regional Qualifying Conferences:
Region I - December 6, 2007 at Aiken HS in Aiken, SC
Region II - December 6, 2007 at Heyward Career Center in Columbia, SC
Region III - December 6, 2007 at Wando HS in Mt. Pleasant, SC
Southern Region - The states of the southern region plan a regional leadership conference each year. This provides an
opportunity to receive valuable leadership training while meeting DECA members from across our region.
2007 Southern Region Conference is held in San Antonio, TX on November 17-19, 2007. Please check the National
DECA website for all materials and registration concerning this conference.
State Career Development Conference - This annual conference determines who will continue to the next level of
competition which is held at the International Career Development Conference. SC DECA members from across our
state gather to compete in 40 different areas of competition.
2008 South Carolina CDC will be held February 22-23, 2008 at the Myrtle Beach Marriott at Grande Dunes.
International Career Development Conference - This is the conclusion of the DECA year when 13,000 DECA members
from all 50 states, Canada, Guam, Puerto Rico, and Germany gather to compete, attend leadership academies, and meet
with business and industry representatives.
2008 ICDC will be held in Atlanta, GA, on April 28-30. Registration materials are distributed at the state conference.
