Chapter Spotlight

South Carolina DECA is EXCITED to recognize all the efforts and activities of our local chapters by putting them on the website! 

We will feature two every month.  There is no specific requirement of the type of activity, but has to involve your local chapter of DECA.

Ridge View High School DECA Chapter

Ridge View High School DECA students took honors in the H&R Block Dollars and Sense National Challenge last week.  The Challenge offered an opportunity for DECA members to demonstrate their financial literacy through an online competition that ran from October 24, 2011 through November 18, 2011.  Ridge View High School DECA entered 3 teams in the competition (Winning, Inc., Sparx, Inc. and May, Inc.).  The following students and their teams took honors in the state (29 competing teams), southern region (456 competing teams), and nation (1024 competing teams) as follows:

Winning, Inc. will compete in Nationals at the DECA International Career Development Conference, in April, in Salt Lake City, UT.  They will be representing the Southern Region. The winning team will receive a prize of $10,000 in scholarship money per team member, plus money for their school.

Congratulations to these students for their great performance.  GO BLAZERS!!!!!!

Lexington Technology Center DECA Chapter

Our Co-presidents, Briana Adams and Kristin Ryan, spoke live on the Lexington community radio station, 107.9 WLMX, to promote DECA week.  They played the radio spot produced by DECA and spoke about the activities for the week. 

They were also introduced at our local rotary meeting to the business leaders in the Lexington community.  We also shared a presentation which highlighted five of our LTC DECA alumni titled "DECA Success Stories.
